GIVING BACK

For over 25 years, Tropic Air has been committed to giving back to the community from working with members of the community to aid conservation and the protection of Kenya’s wildlife, to supporting various fund-raising efforts for a variety of different projects.

COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

At Tropic Air, we lend our support to the conservation missions undertaken throughout Kenya.  We work alongside the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, supplying air support and rapid response units to rescue and protect Kenya’s threatened wildlife. Darting operations, ear notching, collaring, moving herds for wildlife control and dealing with problem animals are examples of our support.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Based on the slopes of Mt Kenya, Tropic Air is in the prime position and location to lend support to both mountain rescues and medical emergencies. With all our pilots trained in static rope evacuation, Tropic Air has become the key provider of emergency rescue services for climbers and adventurers alike. Whilst also being registered as the primary helicopter company for search and rescue throughout East Africa.

We have established an excellent relationship with the Kenyan Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Mount Kenya Trust (MKT). Supporting these teams’ conservation efforts, through anti-poaching, fire prevention and wild-life control.

Just a year ago in 2022, Mount Kenya suffered from a fire that blew for almost two months. Tropic Air was able to help the MKT fight these fires by mobilizing teams across the mountain. We were able to utilize our resources and drop thousands of liters of water on top of these fires with both our helicopters and planes, eventually getting the fires under control.

POKOT, SAMBURU & TURKANA

Tropic Air has and continues to create vital links and relationships with some of Kenya's most untouched locations and communities. The Pokot and Turkana tribes are in highly isolated areas in the north of Kenya, our helicopters have played a vital role in unlocking these hidden gems. We are able to introduce sustainable tourism to these remote areas and tribes through conservation fees, sent directly to those on the ground. We have developed special relationships with many of these tribes. In particular the Pokot tribe who often showcase traditional dances for our clients.

Koros camp our newly renovated camp just south of Lake Turkana is a community lodge, conservation fees and employment are directly given to those living nearby.
