TANZANIA
DAY 1 - 2: LAKE MANYARA
Manyara is best known for it's tree climbing lions, the soda ash lake that attracts thousands and pink flamingos, one of Tanzania’s biggest elephant population and breathtaking scenery.
The unique lions in the park have the capability to climb trees; being nocturnal animals they spend most of their day resting up in the big fig trees and at sunset they descend when the temperatures are cooler. This is one of the only two populations of these unique lions the other being in Ishasha area in Queen Elizabeth National Park..
CHEM CHEM LODGE
Set amidst a canopy of ancient baobabs, this quintessential safari camp weaves understated luxury into every experience.
Dine in the wilderness, and marvel at the abundance of wildlife surrounding you. From dawn to dusk, relish in the tranquillity and rhythmic pace of a slower Africa. Spend time by the pool or in the beautiful mess tent.
The camp is made up of 8 safari tents, each with an indoor and outdoor shower.
DAY 3 - 6: RUAHA
Ruaha National Park in the centre of Tanzania takes its name from the Hehe word for ‘river.’ The eponymous Great Ruaha River serves as a lifeline for the park’s wildlife.
Although it’s one of the largest national parks in the country and rich in wildlife, Ruaha is one of the least busy places to visit in Tanzania, so safaris here feel remote and exclusive. It is renowned for its excellent wildlife-sighting opportunities.
The wider Ruaha area hosts 10% of the world's lion population and has been a Lion Conservation Unit since 2005.
JIBALI RIDGE
Jabali Ridge is a stylish camp in the wildlife-rich Ruaha National Park, set on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Ikuka escarpment.
Jabali Ridge’s eight suites are set among giant granite boulders. Relax in the hammock on your wooden deck and unwind with a book. Cool off in the glorious infinity pool, which overlooks the vast plains. After a day spent walking through the bush or tracking lions in a game vehicle, pause for a refreshing G&T as the sun sets over Ruaha.
DAY 7 - 8: NGORONGORO CRATER & LAKE NATRON
Close to the Kenyan border within the Gregory Rift Valley lies Lake Natron, one of the most important flamingo breeding grounds on earth. Its alkaline waters are often bright red in colour, due to the salt-loving microorganisms that thrive here. Caustic and forbidding in nature, Lake Natron is strikingly fascinating, and a spectacle worth experiencing.
On the northern Tanzania boarder, stands the astonishing mountain of Ol Doinyo Lengai - the “Mountain of God” in Maasai. It is unique, as it is the only known active volcano to erupt natrocarbonatite (sodium-rich) lava. Its lava fountains harden midair, then shatter like glass. Ol Doinyo Lengai rises majestically about 2,000 meters from the East Africa Rift Valley depression to a summit elevation of 2,890 meters.
We will visit Lake Manyara, which stretches 50km along the base of the vast Rift Valley escarpment. Lake Manyara is a scenic gem offering a wilderness experience in diverse habitats. Its alkaline waters attract over 400 species of birds, the most prolific are pink flamingos that flock here in thousands. It also has an acacia woodland where tree-climbing lions have become a Manyara legend.
NGORONGORO CRATER LODGE
On the edge of the Ngorongoro crater lies an elegant baroque châteaux. With an eclectic blend of teak paneling, Victorian furnishings and interesting African touches this lodge creates an atmosphere that is as elegant and unique in the Crater. The dramatic contrasts, of natural luxury and the beautiful setting ensures the dramatic interior of your suite blends perfectly with its stilted thatch architecture.
It is divided into three camps, with 30 suites. Each camp has its own sitting and dinning area.
DAY 9 - 11: GRUMETI
Situated adjacent to the Serengeti National Park, it is an integral part of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. It provides 350,000 acres of exceptional landscape for wildlife - and the ultimate safari experience.
The Grumeti river has one of the major river crossings for the Serengeti Great Migration. Between May and August, thousands of wildebeest cross this crocodile infested river.
SINGITA SASAKWA
Singita means 'places of miracles' in Shangaan.
Built in the style of a stately Edwardian manor house and featuring a light and airy atmosphere, Singita Sasakwa Lodge offers panoramic views, a sense of immense freedom, and stillness.
