NGORONGORO CRATER

The Ngorongoro Crater is thought to have formed about 2.5 million years ago when an active volcano’s cone collapsed inward after a massive eruption. It is the largest caldera in the world and has become a natural sanctuary for some of the densest populations of large mammals in Africa. Due to its enclosed nature, the Ngorongoro Crater has effectively formed its own ecosystem.

You are guaranteed to see big concentrations of animals on a game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. The Crater also delivers some of the most reliable sightings of the Big 5 (elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion and leopard) in East Africa.

ENTAMANU NGORNGORO

The camp is set off the beaten track but right on the Crater rim, and has exceptional views both down into Ngorongoro Crater from one side (sunrise),
and out over the Serengeti from the other (perfect for sundowners).

Entamanu Ngorongoro has seven cottage-style rooms elevated on wooden platforms, with two family rooms made up of two full size rooms. Each room
has indoor heating and en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, and flush loos. Every effort has been made to create comfort in this elemental place.

KURO

Kuro is nestled right in the middle of Tarangire National Park, away from the crowds. It is teeming with elephants, big herds of buffalo, plenty of big cats and home to the highest number of breeding pairs of birds in the green season.

This area is great for walking, day and night drives.

The Tarangire River, just outside the camp, is the only remaining source of water for miles as the season dries up between July and October and it sits just a few hundred feet in front of camp. This means that you find animals surrounding the camp, including herds of impala, bushbuck, dik diks and seriously impressive herds of elephant. There have even been sightings of wild dog chase a bush buck right through the mess at Kuro.

TARANGIRE CAMP

In a grove of acacia trees, on the main game routes a stones throw from the banks of the Tarangire River sits Tarangire Camp.

It has six large, light safari rooms made of canvas and thatch with verandahs and in door and outdoor showers and flush loos. Open-sided, airy, grass thatched lounge and dining room furnished with hides, canvas and a touch of colourful textiles.

This stylishly simple camp is in a quiet, secluded setting surrounded by fantastic walking territory and within easy reach of all the best wildlife areas.
